Raid Tan Hill 2017.
Many thanks to Liz Rogers from the Aire Cooled Alley Cats for her report on Raid Tan Hill 2017 as printed in the 2CVGB Magazine. It was great to have you and Jim along!
Just been thinking what an immensely diverse group we are. People come from all over the country to take part and travel not only at different times but by different means. Such is the dedication of 2CV’ers that the farthest travelled this year came from the very north of Scotland (Aberdeen I believe) - 400 plus miles. He was going back home straight from the run. He was run a very close second by the chap from Jersey who flew and had his flight delayed by 4 hours only to arrive at The Grove pub to find most folk had left.
Participants having lodged in various hotels in Yorkshire, about 40 cars left The Lawnswood Pub at 10.00 am, travelling towards Hawes; on the way meeting up with ourselves in Oily our black and Green special at Kilnsey - good timing by Jim as we seamlessly joined the convoy or bad timing by Liz as we had planned to meet them at Hawes about 20 miles further on. Ah well... At Hawes we were met by folk from Lancashire and Scotland plus representatives of the Nottingham 602 squadron in Notts.
We arrived at Tan Hill to find the Mountain Rescue police and ambulance winding up a successful rescue mission to find a lost camper who had wandered off in the mist.
I believe 50 cars took part!
